3-Dimensional Numerical Evaluation of Geosynthetic Encased Stone Columns in Unsaturated Soils

Geosynthetic encased stone columns are often designed using the conventional framework of saturated soils ignoring influence in-situ unsaturated soil conditions. This article evaluates performance with and without geosynthetic encasement extending mechanics ofunsaturated soils. The focus numerical simulations was directed towards understanding matric suction on confining support offered by surrounding to encasement. Investigations were extended considering stiffness length studies suggest load-carrying capacity columnincreased an increase in boundary effect primary transition zone. However, contribution starts reducing from secondary information zones can be derived fromthe soil-water characteristic curve, which is a relationship between water content suction. In addition, encasing material found contrast results study promising developing procedures thatcan used rational design
